TRIBE'S VIDEO TEASER
The original airing of the video was only seen by a couple hundred people before it was pulled. I don't know what the reason was why TRIBE pulled down their 2nd teaser video but they've decided to repost it. My suggestion, watch it fast before it gets pulled again.

TORN BETWEEN LAUNCHES!!!
I understand that the Miami mas bands will parade in full costume on the same day but do we have to launch on the same day as well? If any masquerader had to choose this would be hard. We have Carnival Nationz, Euphoria Mas, Ascension Mas Band and then relax in your own home and watch TRIBE via Internet. *Rumor has it that if you attend the Ascension Band Launch you get a free ticket to attend Truck Stop (the place where the Euphoria Band Launch will be held). I will look into it and update this entry.

TRIBE 2013 PRESENTATION
Rushes to my computer this morning after a late sleep in to see that SAUCY has posted TRIBE's theme for 2013. This isn't what I was expecting. .
AT ALL
I guess I could see it because of the pictured butterfly, then the dragon but I (for some strange reason) thought hands down that the theme would have been some kind of insects or animals from the orient. Didn't you think both the butterfly and the dragon had a Chinese finish?
We will see when the costumes are revealed!

RUMORS RUMORS AND MORE RUMORS
RUMORS RUMORS AND MORE RUMORS
Well there was a bra posted on Saucy's facebook page of one of YUMA's bras. Rumor has it that that entire section was given bras like that and that is how the bra was supposed to be. Pictured below is the bra. I never really kept track of YUMA's costumes to even know what section it is but I hope to God that this was just the bra of this ONE individual and that major muckup gets rectified.
(this pic was taken from Trinidad Carnival Diary's Facebook Wall)
Now we have Fantasy, it is rumored that Fantasy has contacted their female masqueraders and advised them that their panties would be mailed to them. They haven't received their panties YET! O_0
As for my favorite of the bands, yes, ISLANDpeople. Rumor has it that ISLANDpeople have yet to receive Monday wear. Mum has been the word on it and it has left masqueraders believing that the rumors are in fact true. The rumor is that there IS NO Monday wear and they are stalling. That would explain the late costume distribution. I have been in touch with the camp and they have confirmed the colors and type of wear so.............................idk.
I don't know how true any of this is, but what I do know is there is a picture of this ONE bra from a dissatisfied YUMA customer and a lot of talk around TRIBE's costumes not being up to par, ISLANDpeople not having Monday wear, Fantasy not having pieces of their their female costumes and the list goes on. Its to the point that I don't care anymore and at the end of the day, I hope everyone gets through with what they have to get through with because people money have been spent. Good luck!

RUNWAY AZULA
NOW YOU TELL ME!!!!
This is in NO way a critique but just an observation. There are a few options to this Runway costume but I have to be honest, I don't really see people wearing many of them on the road. The costume has so much fabric!!! This 'fabricy' look is signature Anya but in the midst of a beads, belt and bikini band? Project runway was won by her consistency to plenty fabric, plunging necklines, halter tops or a combination of them all. It was no surprise to me that the costumes looked the way they did. The definite shocker to ME was this!

I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!
HERE WE GO AGAIN WITH THE TEASERS
The hype is certainly building as TRIBE and ISLANDpeople Mas have let the cat out of the bag, but oh gawd, how you will pull the cat out the bag and push it back in there? These band have BOTH left their eagerly awaiting masqueraders in the dark all the way until NOW about what their blasted theme is! What's the big deal? It's getting me more than antsy because I have missed out on T&T 2011 and I am admittedly TUSTY!!!!!!!

COMPLAINTS OF THE MASQUERADERS
I have been attentively viewing the facebook pages of BLISS, ISLANDpeople, Spice, TRIBE and YUMA and people on the whole are not completely pleased with ANY of the bands. I don't know exactly whats going on this year but I think the complaints are coming in just as much as the praises. No one has been immune from it.
BLISS and TRIBE - BLISS just like TRIBE have had promises made to masqueraders that were broken but I must say are being handled accordingly. Things were to be ready for pickup on the day of collection yet they are instructing their masqueraders to come back on another said day and better yet, offering delivery of the items. The masqueraders of these bands are just more subtle with their sh*t and are handled wisely and cautiously as these bands BOTH know the repercussions of negative publicity of bad customer service. An how dare anyone talk badly about TRIBE or its "offspring"? Especially rumoring TRIBE to be the best of the best of carnival bands, they feel almost gaged by the loyalty toward their band.
SPICE - Spice masqueraders have complaints on the 'fluff' of their feathers, they saying that the feathers lookin' dead, the amounts of bling, (the lack of it) and falling off, the height of some of the headpieces not being up to their expected standard, glue remanence on costumes and head pieces, colors of costumes that differ from the prototype and others being completely different.
YUMA - Had the same problems in addition to the crazy size variations. Saucy's blog has actual pictures of what looks to be like mite eaten feathers. WOW! People are complaining about bra sizes being waaaaaaaaay too big and looking like granny bras and panties being made too small. The sizing is completely off from what I can see (and read). Bra sizes being too big can be fixed. I'm sure there are ways to adjust it but panties that are too small? I don't know how they're going to work with that and that seems to be going on across the board. Although thankful to get their Monday wear on time, the tees are really big while the shorts are like two sizes too small. It seems as though these sizes were ordered across the board and people are not happy.
ISLANDpeople - About my beloved band. They are not exempt form the back lashings. People are, lets be real, pissed off with ISLANDpeople and its not because of the costumes being made poorly, no fast collection, bad customer service or no accessories. These things were surprisingly on target for the most part. People are however ready to kill because they're goodie bags which are usually THE BOMB, (with the exception of last year, it seemed just mediocre) are not ready. When people came in on Monday to collect their costumes, they were advised to come in on Tueday as their goodie bags (which includes their Monday wear) would not be ready until the following day. The following day, Tuesday, people were told that they would DEFINITELY be ready for pickup on Wednesday. Today is Thursday and people have yet to collect their goodie bags and Monday wear from IP. I've gotten word that they will now be ready 'again' on Friday 'for sure'. I dont know how that will eventually turn out because, not only do people have to collect their costumes on Friday but the entire band will be returning for their goodie bags and Monday wear as well. I imagine that IP go be a HOT mess come Friday. People go be line up dey from jouvert. SMH. I'm just ever too happy that THIS is the year I didn't play mas because I too would have been pissed off!
***I DONT CARE WHAT NOBODY SAY, ISLANDpeople have the best vibes, pretty costumes and bess jewelry. I'm missing out this year by force but will be there next year and the year after that *please God. Everyone can not be pleased and there are those who will ALWAYS find something to complain about. It's all HAND MADE people!!! Whether hand made in Trinidad or China HAND MADE none the less!!! That means you have to leave room for human error! Give not only ISLANDpeople but TRIBE, BLISS, SPICE and YUMA a blasted chance. DAMM!! Enough is enough, I understand that people money spen' on this but your money is not only spent on the costuming. DJ's have to be paid, generators have to be purchased or rented, trucks have to be built, sufficient liquor has to purchased (which is where MOST of your money goes by the way). Come on, stop making this entire carnival about bickering and complaining, its a festive time and it is stressful for all behind the scenes. Either you like it or you don't. If you do yet have issue with the band, send suggestive emails. They will not only respond but try to do something about it. If you don't, jump ship, it have REL bands to play with and this year alone has proven that new bands are emerging each and every day.
**sorry, I had to get that one out.

PROBLEMS WITH COSTUME COLLECTIONS
I'm not in Trinidad *sobbing right now* to see for myself what is going on so I have to rely on THE SAUCE!
People seem not at all happy with costume collection with YUMA! What a surprise! For some reason, I thought that everything (thus far) with YUMA was on point (excepting their website taking down their costume visuals to advertise their Neon fete an distribution schedule). They have been actively communicating with their masqueraders and 'fans' via facebook and I thought because of this open communication, things would have gone smoothly. I was wrong.
Evidently, there is a problem with some of the costumes not looking like the prototype, dead feathers, traces of glue all over headpieces and jewelry not only falling off by the time masqueraders make it to their car but UPON COLLECTION! One of the HUGE problem was with the section ORION. Something about it not looking ANYTHING like what it was supposed to look like. I think the bra was changed completely as well as the coloring. On their FACEBOOK PAGE, there are A LOT of unhappy campers publicly commenting their disgust, while others are just trying to sell/swap out their costumes (in part or whole). There are the few that are just IN LOVE with their costumes but they seem to be the minority. I dont want to say that ALL masqueraders are dissatisfied, its just you always usually hear the bad and there is no other way to voice their opinion like the other bands do. They only have that facebook page.
As for BLISS, ISLANDpeople, SPICE and TRIBE I haven't heard anything too too bad. Nothing out of the ordinary. I did hear that ISLANDpeople did tell their people on Monday that their goodie bags AND Monday wear/gear would not be available for pickup until Wednesday. *On a good note, they have been personally advising people of this via telephone, giving people a chance to not come down to the mascamp and waste their time. Two thumbs up for them! Customer service at its best for ISLANDpeople for 2010 and 2011.

IN THE MAS WORLD
It is rumored that people shopping already for carnival 2012! That is some planning for your ass. Sorry for the language but OMG!!! It have most bands well struggling to get some SECTIONS sold out, this entire BAND sold out for 2011 and are not looking but SHOPPING for their materials for Carnival 2012!!!!!! WOI!!! I have a really good idea which band it is but I can't really say and not because I have been sworn to secrecy or anything but because I just plain don't know for sure. It is killing me. I got this news from the blog of the one I call the carnival Goddess Saucy! (we all know that is in just fun because there is no other than the Almighty God for me). But could you just imagine.
Talking about Carnival 2012, whats REALLY good with T&T Carnival 2011? I am not hearing from anyone lately. I am not hearing from my 1st love ISLANDpeople Mas. It's like they too busy working on costumes, NOT!(cause we ALL know costumes are no longer made in Trinidad but China). Could it be that they are thinking up new ways to lure registrations? I don't know how many people were willing to trade in wearing a costume on the roads of Port Of Spain for their bedroom lingerie. I love IP, but I feel a line has been crossed. Especially with the Meteor Burst.
TRIBE and BLISS are not saying too much of anything either. Why is that? We know they done SELLOUT yeah, yeah, yeah (for half the band to be resold on FINE AH BAN or Carnival Junction). Then again, maybe not, they have realized what has been going on and changed their registration AND collection process. So I don't know.
Then there is SPICE who started out big and strong. Yuh couldn't PAY SPICE to shut up but like something silence them. Maybe the overpriced costumes that are/were 'in my opinion' were waaaaaaay overdone. The Signature Collection was pretty but just too 'nuff' for me.
Maybe its too early to be hearing anything, I mean, Carnival Monday is approximately 4 months away. The impatience is just starting to kick in I guess!

TRIBE - THE WAY OF THE WARRIOR!

I wasn't even in Trinidad last night for the long awaited band launch of TRIBE/ BLISS and there was just soooo much going on right here in my bedroom! I attempted to watch the live feed that the infamous Sauce of http://www.trinidadcarnivaldiary.com/ through Triniscene.com had online but my computer wanted to misbehave. It was constantly going in and out and it was so frustrating that I just decided to just wait on her review and pictures after the launch.
From her pictures I got to see the costumes that were for the most part DEAD ON with the WARRIOR theme. These five pictures were captured from TRIBE's website and I have 2 favorites. My first favorite is the 1st picture shown XI'AN WARRIORS frontline OR backline. The 2nd favorite was the 2nd picture posted, PERSIAN GOLD frontline.
Not much to say other than that as I choose not to comment on costumes that I did not see in person. The other costumes posted were of those that I found either VERY sexy or caught my attention. All in all though, two thumbs up for TRIBE! Lets see the madness begin in a week or two for the bands registration process. Good luck!
Who knows, I may just be a XI'AN WARRIOR or PERSIAN GOLD for Carnival 2011.
